Located in British Columbia’s Purcell Mountains, Greywolf Golf Course in Panorama is a bucket-list experience worth travelling for. Known for its panoramic views and the legendary “Cliffhanger” 6th hole, Greywolf consistently ranks among Canada’s top golf courses.
Why Greywolf Golf Course is a Must-Visit
1. Award-Winning Design by Doug Carrick
Designed by Canadian golf course architect Doug Carrick, Greywolf is recognized for its unique layout featuring over 400 feet of elevation change. The golf course blends seamlessly into the natural mountain landscape, providing a thrilling rollercoaster ride through some of the tallest mountains you will find at any mountain golf course.
2. Iconic Cliffhanger Hole
The 6th hole—aptly named “Cliffhanger”—is Greywolf’s most recognized and photographed hole. The par-3 perched on the edge of a dramatic canyon demands a courageous shot from a tee box that can truly cause a bit of vertigo. The breathtaking 360 degree mountain views here are unmatched in the world. Even if you’ve never been to Greywolf, you might still recognize this world-famous hole.
3. Breathtaking Mountain Scenery
The golf course is located in Panorama Mountain Resort, which is surrounded by rugged peaks, crystal-clear streams, and an abundance of wildlife. Each hole at Greywolf feels like you are walking in a postcard. The elevated tees, rolling fairways, and the cool alpine air enhance the immersive mountain golf experience.
Location: Getting to Greywolf Golf Course, Panorama, BC
Situated just 20 minutes west of Invermere, and a 3.5 hour drive from Calgary, Greywolf is easily accessible. I strongly suggest driving from Calgary as it is one of the most stunning drives you will ever come across. Working your way along the Kootenay Highway, up high into alpine grounds, than down into the Columbia Valley before making the climb up to Greywolf, is an unforgettable experience and one of my favourite drives in all of Canada. Even if Greywolf isn’t your final destination, the drive alone would be worth it.

Best Time to Golf at Greywolf
The golf season at Greywolf typically runs from late May to early October, depending on snow conditions. The summer months (June to August) offer prime playing conditions, with long daylight hours, warm weather, and vibrant scenery, so it’s an easy time to recommend visiting. That said, if you’re looking for fewer crowds and lower rates, consider visiting in early June or September.
My Final Thoughts
If you are wanting to play one of the most jaw-dropping mountain golf courses in the world, which also ranks as one of the best in all of Canada, Greywolf Golf Course is where you should be. It delivers an unforgettable golf experience that I can’t wait to get back to.
